Probation Drug & Alcohol Testing

When are you subject to drug and alcohol testing for probation?

Various reasons include:

·         An individual who always has a run in with the law

·         An individual who may have a history of misusing drugs.

Probation drug and alcohol testing varies across the U.S & may have you testing for a variety of substances. The most common probation testing panel is a 5- 10 panel urine test which includes the following:

5 panel:

·         Amphetamines

·         Methamphetamines

·         Cocaine

·         THC

·         opiates which include (codeine, morphine & heroine)

·         PCP

10 Panel: Everything included in a 5 panel as well as,

·         Benzodiazepines

·         Barbiturates

·         Methadone

·         Propoxyphene

The probation requirements may include alcohol as well. Be advised that the 5-10 panel is the most common, however this does not necessarily mean your probation instructor will select this panel. There are various panels to choose from and depending on your order, you may be subject to a higher panel that includes more substances to test for. Keep in mind Probation drug testing can occur even if your case is not a drug-related offense.

On several occasions, the court can also order an individual to complete a random drug & or alcohol program. The time frame can vary anywhere from having to complete a test 1 time to several times during a period of time. The time frame is dictated by your probation instructor. It is imperative that you remain drug free especially during the time frame you are on probation.

What happens when you fail a drug test during probation?

Failing a drug or alcohol test during probation is considered a violation of probation, in which the probation instructor will have to provide the copy of the results to the judge to oversee your case. This may result to having to complete a substance abuse program If they grant you that option, while other cases you may have to serve a jail sentence. You are allowed to provide legitimate medical records by a licensed physician that proves you must take a specific medication & to provide this at all times to your probation instructor. You will more than likely have to appear in court and have a probation violation attorney involved to represent you.

The probation officer is considered someone who can testify in court by providing documentation of your interactions and if whether you’ve been compliant during the probation period.

What happens when you are on vacation during your probation period?

We offer over 20,000 locations in the United States that you can register to walk-in to. Your probation officer should be aware, and it is completely up to them to make that determination. It is usually best to make your probation officer aware of any upcoming trips prior to the program.

Will my probation instructor advise me to complete a hair drug test?

The answer is yes, there is a possibility to where the instructor will rather have you complete a hair test. You will need to of course have enough hair on your head or body hair to be suitable for hair testing. Our standard hair test is a 90-day detection, however, for a hair test we can go as far as a year. The hair method is a method that cannot be easily tampered with while a urine test, if not monitored or conducted properly, you can easily tamper with.

If someone is known for providing synthetic urine on several occasions during a drug test, the hair test option is available as well as a blood drug test.
