Drug Free Workplace

A Drug Free Workplace consists of a workplace where all employees comply to a routine of policies & activities created to provide a safe workplace environment as well finding solutions to treat drug and alcohol abuse. 

Employees are to not show up to work under the influence of illegal or legal drugs and/or alcohol.

We encourage employers to implement a workplace drug and alcohol policy. Your policy will cover that your employees/students are subject to pre-employment drug testing, random drug testing, reasonable suspicion testing, post-accident drug testing ETC. The Policy covers you legally. Once you have a policy in place, your employees will know that drug testing can occur at any point while employed with you.

It is advised that a manager or supervisor will need to take a supervisor course that will teach them the importance of determining reasonable suspicion, whether someone is under the influence of drugs or alcohol while on the job.

When drug abuse occurs at the workplace, this puts the employers at a risk for higher insurance costs, increase in accidents and absenteeism, and lower chances of focusing in the workplace. Safety can be accomplished if you implement a Drug free workplace.

Laws in each state differ especially since marijuana has been legalized in certain states. The laws for each state should have something in place as far as pre-employment drug testing and the workplace drug testing policy guidelines.
